About
The Hurricane Watch became the official print school newspaper in the fall of 1989 when J.D. Zuber became the adviser, completely overhauling the newspaper and the way it was produced. The staff quickly switched to Macintosh computers, with a commitment to fully publishing the paper digitally.
The staff became a member of the Georgia Scholastic Press Association where it won numerous awards through the years, including repeated recognition by receiving the General Excellence award, signifying it as the top school in its GHSA classification.
In the spring of 2009, the staff and Mr. Zuber decided to break with its print format after watching how major newspapers were laying off employees and the booming growth of news sources on the Internet. Wanting to prepare more students for an electronic media age, The Hurricane Watch Online was born!
