ECE students escort Trick-or-Treaters

Written by Tara Walker, A&E Editor

Every year, kids all across the country dress up in the most extravagant costumes they have in the hopes of getting as much candy as they can find in one night. This year, though, Halloween will come twice for certain kids.

The Early Childhood Education students, The Monroe Little Learners, have been invited to trick-or-treat in the school building on Oct. 23.

The trick-or-treating will take place during school in second block.

“I organized this,” Shannon Houk, ECE Director, said, “because its something fun and safe for the kids to do.”

The preschool students will be able to go door-to-door and receive candy in the safety and security of the school building with the help of many different teachers and ECE high school students.

“Several teachers really enjoy doing this,” Houk said, “and look forward to helping out every year.”

This is the second year that Houk has organized this event and plans to continue to keep the tradition alive for years to come. “This is something,” Houk said, “that we look forward to every year.”

Kids of all ages enjoy Halloween night and this event gives The Monroe Little Learners another experience they can remember their whole lives.

“It is a really special time for the kids,” Houk said, “both high school and preschool students.”
