Among the community service projects in which the Anchor Club here participates, they picked up one more activity to do.
Walker Park Elementary School held a Fall Festival Saturday, Nov. 14 that the Anchor Club had a face-painting booth at.
“I’m not much of an artist,” Elizabeth Soules, senior, said, “but I really enjoyed being able to do this!”
The festival lasted from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and the Anchor Club, along with 18 other vendors and numerous activities, all came together to make the festival a success.
“I feel that the festival went great with the parents, teachers and others in the community helping!” Heddy Still, PTO President of WPES, said. “Monica Walker and Crystal Reynolds were in charge of the festival this year, and they did a wonderful job!”
The Anchor Club wanted to participate in the festival this year to show that they care for others in the community while putting a smile on their faces.
“It was so much fun painting their faces,” Lauren Brown, senior, said. “I really loved how the kids smiled after we finished! It showed me their appreciation.”
Along with the face-painting booth, there were other activities for the kids to participate in.
“We had a cake walk, the movie ‘Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,’ Extreme Trampoline from Corn Dawgs, just to name a few,” Still said. “We also had a food court with Chick-Fil-A, SD Smoke House and Papa Johns Pizza.”
The festival will continue to be a time for everyone in the community to get together and enjoy a safe and fun environment yearly.
“I hope that the Anchor Club,” Soules said, “can participate again next year. We all really enjoyed it!”
