Students have dropped out of high school here and enrolled in other institutions such as Faith. Others just do not go anywhere but, instead, stay at home and do not care about getting an education.
“I transferred from this school to Faith because I wanted to work and graduate early,” Blake Orr, junior, said, “but I could not stay at Faith because I did not want them to suspend my license.”
Bruce Perry, graduation coach, thinks if someone drops out, they only have two other options besides being in a public high school.
“They should go to a private high school or do a job corps. They can still get their diplomas this way,” Perry said, “and it would be good for them instead of not having a education or a job.”
Quitting school means people would not get scholarship money, and it would be put on their record for the rest of their lives.
“School is a important part in someone’s life even though some people hate coming to school every single day,” Perry said, “so they decide to quit school for a lot of reasons or they just get tired of coming to school.”
Getting bad grades, failing a grade in elementary or middle school or not taking classes is why many students drop out of school.
“I think this is what many people should do or try to do because I do not like to see students drop out,” Perry said. “It is a bad choice and holds people back in life from getting a good job or succeeding in anything.”
